A Loughton-based boxing academy has been helping young members of the local community improve their fitness and energy levels, through dedicated boxing sessions held at several local schools.
Located on the ground floor of the Landmark Building, Dennis & Dyer Boxing Academy first opened its door in April 2021 with a clear vision to become one of Loughton’s ‘go to’ fitness establishments.
Since this time, co-founders and leading boxing coaches, Marc Dennis and Liam Dyer, have secured over 300 monthly members and are now focused on positively impacting younger members of the community through dedicated fitness drills and boxing sessions held at local schools, including Roding Valley and Davenant Foundation School.
Due to expand its reach into Debden Park School and Goffs Academy, Cheshunt, in early 2022, both Marc and Liam are keen to showcase the benefits of boxing to young people – both as an activity for improved fitness, but also as a sport that help improve both confidence levels and mental health.
Marc Dennis, Co-Founder of Dennis and Dyer Boxing Academy, confirmed: “Boxing is often perceived as an aggressive sport, but in reality, it has so many positive benefits for both physical and mental health – particularly for young people.
Since we have commenced our dedicated boxing and fitness sessions at local secondary schools, we have had the pleasure of working with over 500 young people, who have enjoyed trying new activities, channelling any negative energy and learning new skills. We now look forward to expanding our reach and working with additional schools in the New Year, all whilst showing students, teachers and parents alike the positive attributes of the sport.”
Both Marc Dennis and Liam Dyer boast extensive experience in boxing coaching, where Liam starting his journey in the overweight category as a teenager and competed for the Tottenham and Enfield club. Unfortunately, his struggle with asthma meant he was forced to retire from the sport early, but since then has worked alongside Marc to train boxers of all age groups and capabilities.
Backed by local, serial entrepreneur and property investment expert, Reece Mennie, who sponsors the former WBC World Champion, Charlie Edwards and WBO Global Super Featherweight Champion Archie Sharp, the Dennis & Dyer Boxing Academy is affiliated by England Boxing and now supports 5 amateur trained boxers, with many more to be added to the ranks by the close of the year.
Located in The Landmark at Barrington Green, Loughton, the Dennis & Dyer Boxing Academy opens 6.30am – 9pm Monday – Friday, 8am – 2pm on Saturdays and 9am – 12pm on Sundays.
