The Workplace Personal Injury team in the Birmingham office of Irwin Mitchell took on and completed the Coventry Inflatable 5km obstacle course, raising £1,200 for Mesothelioma UK, a charity dedicated to supporting people with asbestos cancer.
Colleagues Hayley Hill; Alex Shorey; Alida Coates; Beth Peers; Emma Ferguson; Erika Wright; Iain Shoolbred; John Llewelyn; Julie Fieldhouse; Satinder Bains; Sonia Gill; Sophie Hubbert; Tony Roberts and Victoria Symes; all travelled to Stoneleigh, Warwickshire, to compete in the inflatable 5k obstacle course, skilfully bouncing through 15 mega-sized inflatable obstacles in the process.
Some 2,500 people a year are diagnosed with mesothelioma, a disease caused by exposure to asbestos, which can take decades to develop and has no cure. Many sufferers take advantage of specialist legal advice, provided by experts in mesothelioma and other asbestos claims at Irwin Mitchell; while seeking the help of Mesothelioma UK, a charity improving treatment for all mesothelioma patients, in addition to supporting their carers.
Hayley Hill, Expert Workplace Illness Lawyer at Irwin Mitchell, said: “The Workplace Illness Team has seen first-hand the terrible effects asbestos exposure has had on our clients, particularly those with mesothelioma. This devastating disease has a significant impact on clients and their families and we are all proud to have raised such a significant sum to support Mesothelioma UK’s invaluable work.
“It was a great event and a fun day out, all in aid of a very worthy cause.”
The team took part in the event on 11 May.
