Vets invest in hi-tech kit to help patients

Garston Veterinary Group, which operates across Somerset and Wiltshire, will soon be home to new leading-edge equipment to help its team care for more pets.

A new CT scanner will be able to provide more advanced images of patients at Garston, to help its clinical team diagnose and treat more complex conditions.

The investment into Garston’s facilities has been made by Linnaeus, one of the UK’s leading veterinary groups, which bought the practice in October. The CT scanner will be installed in 2024.

Garston welcomes small animal patients and has a 24/7 hospital based in Frome, which is accredited by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Its well-equipped facilities already include consulting rooms, operating theatres, onsite laboratories, ultrasound and X-ray.

Garston also operates small animal surgeries in Melksham, Trowbridge, Warminster and Westbury.

Lead Clinical Director at Garston, John Gould, said: “It is an exciting time for our practice, as we will be able to provide more imaging and diagnostic services to our patients. Having a CT scanner will help us improve and increase the care we offer to local pets and their owners.”

Lisa Poyser, Director of Business Development at Linnaeus, said: “We are investing in Garston’s facilities to provide a range of services and support to local pets. Garston’s team are committed to clinical excellence, and a new CT scanner will help them to providing the best possible care to their patients.”

Linnaeus operates more than 50 primary care veterinary practices in the UK and Ireland. For further information, please visit linnaeusgroup.co.uk.
