A charity coach trip to Ladies Day at Royal Ascot has raised more than £13,000!
More than 400 supporters of the Mary Stevens Hospice took part in a coach trip to one of the iconic events in the British horse racing calendar, enjoying the day out in the Queen Anne enclosure of the prolific race-ground.
Eight coaches set off from The Crown Inn in Oldswinford at 8am on the Thursday morning and were given breakfast and refreshments on the coach journey down before seeing The Queen’s entrance procession and enjoying the day’s horse racing before finishing at the traditional “singing-around-the-bandstand”.
Charlotte Schofield, Head of Fundraising, Mary Stevens Hospice said: “We had just the most wonderful day and we can’t thank all of our supporters enough for their support and their attitudes while enjoying the day.
It was a truly memorable trip and seeing everyone dressed up to the nines, smiling, laughing and enjoying themselves is just the most wonderful sight for us as a community organisation.
To know that as part of that enjoyment, families will be able to access our care in their moments of greatest need really is just something special and it’s a phenomenal amount raised by some wonderful people for those in our community who need it most.”
A number of Hospice supporters took to social media to express their enjoyment of the day.

A 2020 trip has already been confirmed by Hospice fundraisers with supporters encouraged to visit the charity’s official Facebook page for regular updates and more information on tickets.
The 2019 trip took place on Thursday 20th June and raised £13,390 for the Hagley Road Hospice
