PK Education recruits two new members to Birmingham office

Rebecca and James

Education recruitment specialist PK Education has appointed two new staff members to its thriving Birmingham office.

James Hancocks and Rebecca Griffiths have joined the Birmingham city centre office, bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team.

James joins the company as Marketing Manager, coordinating online and offline marketing activity across the company’s seven offices. He has a strong background in digital marketing with 10 years in the industry.

Having visited all the individual offices and met all the different teams, James credits PK’s people with its continued success. He explained: “PK Education is different from hard-sell recruitment agencies that I’ve previously encountered. It’s a family business with strong ethical values at its core. PK’s mission to improve the reputation of the recruitment industry really struck a chord with me. They’re a shining example of how we should all behave.”

Outside work James uses his marketing experience to promote charities that are close to his heart, including Cardiac Risk in the Young, Cancer Research and the National Trust’s activities. He also enjoys cycling.

Rebecca Griffiths joins PK Education as a Resourcer, also having experience working in education as a supply teacher. Rebecca previously worked as an SEN Teaching Assistant at Beaufort School, catering for the needs of children with severe and profound learning difficulties.

Having worked as both permanent and supply staff in schools, Rebecca will be using her knowledge and skills to match PK candidates to roles and schools.

She has worked with pupils of all ages, in both mainstream and SEN schools in teaching and sports coaching roles. She explained: “I feel like I’m able to prepare supply staff before they walk into a school. I’ve experienced lots of aspects of teaching and also worked in a number of the schools that source their staffing needs from PK. Having this first-hand knowledge means that I am able to help candidates feel confident and comfortable about new roles.”

Outside work Rebecca enjoys taking part in obstacle courses such as the local Ram Run and raising money for charities.

Lee Carpenter, Director of PK Education, commented: “It’s been great to welcome James and Rebecca on board at a time of such growth for the company. The Birmingham office is currently performing incredibly well, particularly in SEN, which Rebecca has real strengths in. They’re a great fit for the team here and match the PK ethos perfectly.”

The recent appointments follow a year of massive growth for PK, with turnover and staff numbers doubling in only 12 months. Established by Karl Housley and Paul Gallagher, the firm boasts seven offices in Newcastle, Leeds, Sheffield, Nottingham, Birmingham, Leicester and Manchester.
