PSG Academy Ellesmere – a new partner of French footballing giants Paris Saint-Germain – is taking its coaching talents to pupils further across Shropshire.
The academy, based at Ellesmere College, has launched a new partnership with an independent prep school in Shrewsbury after welcoming more than 50 promising young footballers from around the world when it launched last month.
Coaches from PSG Academy Ellesmere will now be going into St Winefride’s prep school in Belmont, Shrewsbury, to give the youngsters a taste of the PSG experience by passing on their footballing expertise.
Harvey Lewis, PSG Head Coach at Ellesmere College, said: “We are delighted to announce that we have just finalised a partnership with St Winefride’s that means we can take PSG to them, so their students can benefit from some specialised coaching sessions and learn all about the PSG ethos.
“We are excited about being able to spread the PSG message to even more youngsters in the county and, who knows, as they evolve their footballing skills and approach secondary school age, some may be in a position to apply for places at PSG Academy Ellesmere in the future.
Richard Goody, Headmaster at St. Winefride’s RC Independent School, added: “I would like to thank the team at St Winefride’s for joining us in this partnership and I am sure it is something that will be beneficial to all concerned in the future.
“We are delighted to be partnering with the PSG Academy Ellesmere and Ellesmere College to provide our pupils with this exciting opportunity.
“At St Winefride’s, we are committed to offering our children a wide and broad range of experiences and opportunities, and this partnership will allow them to benefit from specialist coaching while developing their skills, confidence and enjoyment of football.
“We are very much looking forward to welcoming the PSG Academy coaches into our school and seeing this partnership with the PSG Academy Ellesmere develop, while strengthening our existing links to Ellesmere College in the future.”
PSG Academy Ellesmere is now providing elite-level football training at Ellesmere College in a collaboration that brings together the professional sporting philosophy of the French footballing giants and the college’s outstanding educational and extracurricular environment.
