Midlands recruiter to climb three peaks in 24 hours for Alzheimer’s

A consultant from Birmingham-based recruitment firm, Woodrow Mercer, has set his sights on completing the Alzheimer’s Society’s Three Peak Challenge.

Toby Poxton, aged 21 from Stafford, has vowed to raise over £1,000 for the charity – with the challenge set to take place this weekend.

Starting on Today, Poxton will begin his ascent up Scafell Pike in the Lake District, followed by Mount Snowdon in Wales, finishing with Ben Nevis in the Scottish Highlands, all within 24 hours.

Woodrow Mercer, which has offices in Birmingham, London, Leeds, Hull and Nottingham, is a keen advocate of the organisation’s work and has supported Toby throughout his fundraising journey. As a business, the Alzheimer’s Society’s primary cause hits home with many of the recruitment firm’s staff.

The agency, set up by Managing Director, Dan Ostrowski, was founded in 2012 with the vision of developing an ethical recruitment company that goes above and beyond for its staff, customers and candidates.

Ostrowski said: “We are really proud that Toby has chosen to represent such a remarkable charity. As a key part of our Learning Technology recruitment team, he’s not one to shy away from a challenge – as a business, we really applaud him for his commitment to climbing these three peaks.”

Poxton, whose day-to-day job involves resourcing technology specialists for permanent, interim and fixed-term appointments across the UK and Europe, is approaching the three-year mark at Woodrow Mercer.

He added: “It’s great to have the backing of the business when supporting something that means so much to me personally. Alzheimer’s Society work tirelessly to support those in need so I want to help where I can and hopefully get us one step closer to finding a cure!”

Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. The charity strives to unite to create a world without dementia.
