McCann Birmingham enjoys golden success at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity

McCann Birmingham has scored a major success at the advertising industry’s most prestigious global event by winning four awards at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity – including a much-vaunted gold Lion.

The UK’s largest regional integrated agency claimed the top prize, plus a silver and bronze Lion, in the Radio & Audio category, as well as winning a silver in the Health Lions festival – the first award of its kind for the McCann UK network.

In total, McCann Birmingham was nominated for fourteen awards – a record for the agency.

Vince McSweeney, Chief Creative Officer at McCann Birmingham, said: “It’s a fantastic result for our agency and builds on the success of our previous international award wins. To bag McCann UK’s first ever Health Lion is another great achievement.

“Delivering internationally recognised campaigns is something this agency has been doing for a long time, but it’s rewarding to put our city on the global creative map yet again.”

The work was created by Creative Group Heads Joe Ivory and Jamie Buckingham, the second time the team has picked up honours at Cannes in the last three years.

The awards for McCann Birmingham were part of a total of 71 wins by the international McCann Network. The Cannes Lions are the most established and coveted awards for the creative and marketing communications industry. Winning an award at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity puts agencies among the world’s elite. The awards have been running since 1954 and a Cannes Lions trophy is recognised globally as the ultimate achievement in creativity.
