After all of the Christmas festivities have finished, often the last thing we want to be thinking about is recycling our real Christmas tree.
But this January The Mary Stevens Hospice will be taking all of that stress away.
The ‘Hospice Elves’ will be out and about collecting real Christmas trees from all around the Borough during the 6th– 10th January and by covering more postcodes than ever, the initiative will kick start the Hospice’s fundraising efforts for the year. Each donation for a tree to be collected really adds up and after this year’s Treecycle bringing in over £17,000, staff are hoping that their 2022 collection will exceed all expectations.
Amanda Bowen, Head of Fundraising at The Mary Stevens Hospice said: “Treecycle has almost become a seasonal tradition in the Black Country, as our volunteers take to the streets collecting used Christmas trees to raise funds for the hospice. Let us get rid of your tree for you in a simple, easy way and help us raise funds for such a great cause at the same time.
Volunteers are at the heart of our campaign and we welcome help from anyone who would like to join the Treecycle team and help us make a difference to the lives of local people living with a life limiting illness.”
This year the service will be covering the following postcodes: B62, B63, B64, DY1, DY2, DY3, DY4, DY5, DY6, DY7, DY8, DY9, WV5
To make your donation and sign up today, you can telephone 01384 377 778 or sign up directly via the Hospice website: www.marystevenshospice.co.uk/event/treecycle-2022/.
The Hospice will then send you a ‘Treecycle tag’ to be tied to your tree and you simply leave it on your driveway on the evening of the 5th January and by the end of the weekend it will be gone!
