Local PR agency wins national media relations award

Following on from its double award win at the 2019 Midlands PRCA DARE Awards, Stafford-based PR and content marketing agency, Edson Evers, beat stiff competition to secure the best national media relations award at this year’s PRCA DARE Grand Prix Awards.

PRCA’s Grand Prix brings together all of the winners from the six regional DARE Awards to decide the nation’s best campaigns.

Edson Evers won the award for its Rural Community Fund campaign on behalf of the UK’s leading LPG provider, Calor Gas.

To support Calor’s desire to be positioned as a brand synonymous with rural life, Edson Evers developed the idea of the Calor Rural Community Fund – a national competition highlighting the projects and initiatives that make a difference to the day-to-day lives of rural residents, offering a number of monetary grants to support community projects across the UK. The campaign itself had a strong media relations aspect, covering everything from national newspapers right down to hyper-local press, achieving enviable results.

The campaign secured over 500 pieces of coverage and nearly three million opportunities to see across a range of content channels. Its incredible success was owed to its truly integrated, multi-channel approach, which included viral videos, direct emailers to local councils and parishes, and PR sell-in to national, regional, local and hyper-local titles, plus radio and trade media.

The scheme also saw 216 community-based projects apply to receive funding and over 182,604 votes cast on the shortlisted entries.

National community action groups, such as Business in the Community, Rural England and mental health charity Mind were also involved with and supported the campaign.

Edson Evers’ Managing Director, Grace Mcgarry, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have won the award for the nation’s best media relations campaign at the PRCA DARE Grand Prix Awards. We were up against brilliant campaigns from some of the UK’s best communications consultancies, so our win showcases the incredible strength of our entry and highlights the fantastic work that our team put in to make the campaign a success.”

Established in 1972 and located on the Newport Road in Stafford, Edson Evers delivers award-winning national and international PR and marketing campaigns. Current clients include the Caterpillar equipment dealer Finning, lock and security provider Yale, and Bostik, best known for brands such as Blu Tack and Evo-Stik. The agency’s multi-channel approach covers public relations, crisis communications, content and design, digital services, social media and influencer marketing.
