Renowned Lichfield comedienne and mental health counsellor, Sheila McMahon, is set to return to the Garrick for her 11th mental health show on World Mental Health Day.
Her latest annual show, which follows the launch of her second book, an anthology of poetry called Behind Closed Doors, at the Garrick earlier this year, will see Sheila exploring the topic of Identity on Saturday, 10 October, at 7.45pm.
Set to be another thought-provoking and transformational show, it will explore the beliefs, behaviours and gender roles that can be shaped from early childhood and will challenge the audience to consider which parts of their identity still feel true to them today.
Sheila said: “We are a product of our environment, and so much of what we believe about ourselves can be shaped by the people and experiences around us.
“This show is about taking a step back and asking ourselves what actually feels true for us now, rather than simply carrying forward beliefs and labels that may no longer serve us.
“It’s about self-reflection, emotional cleansing and, ultimately, it’s about giving ourselves permission to decide who we want to be moving forward.”
Sheila’s long-running mission to make conversations around mental health more accessible and to remove the stigma that can still exist sees her deliver her unique fusion of mental health education, comedy, live music and personal stories at her shows.
Tickets for the show, which will run for approximately two hours and 20 minutes, including a 20-minute interval, are priced at £18.50 and are selling fast.
