On Thursday 12th September, the Wealth Design Group held a retirement seminar for their clients, which offered a thought-provoking and insightful look at how the landscape for retirement has changed, and the implications to financial planning in the run-up to and post retirement. Over 60 people attended the seminar held at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire. It was attended by individuals who were either planning for or already in retirement.
Director Steve Bennett said, “Retirement is one of the key life events which we can plan for and the seminar covered not just the financial planning aspects of saving and spending in retirement, but also demographic and psychological shifts which are impacting how retirement looks today.”
The talks included:
- The Psychology of Retirement, where David Philips, Director and Chartered Financial Planner at Wealth Design, talked about what retirement means, beyond financial planning.
- Investing for Modern Retirement, where Steve Bennett, Director and Financial Planner at Wealth Design, talked about the implications of living longer on investing for retirement.
- Retirement in Detail, where Peter Lawlor, Senior Retirement Consultant at LV, talked about the technicalities of retirement, including phased tax-free income throughout retirement, annual allowances, and death nominations.
The event was supported by Wealth Design’s Retirement guide, which participants could take away with them for future use. The guide brings together various sources to provide a thought-provoking and insightful look at how the landscape for retirement has changed, and the implications for financial planning.
