Why is a Speed Dater event great for professionals
I would say because after a long day at work, professional people in particular do not want to waste their evening, our events are great because the people attending are serious about wanting to meet someone, they make the effort to come after a day in the office. Unlike a dating app you already have that assurance. They get to actually meet someone! The 4 minute dating session will certainly give you some indication if you are interested in knowing more about someone. Professional people have busy lives, perhaps sometimes even for ‘social’ time with friends or making new friends. Generally people always stick around after our events as a group too which is always really lovely to see.
What can they expect especially if they haven’t been to a dating event before
A relaxed evening, with friendly, open-minded people. The events aren’t taken too seriously. It’s all about having fun in a friendly, relaxed environment.
Can I go on my own or is it best to go in a group
You can certainly attend on your own – a lot of daters do! Groups are absolutely fine too. At SpeedDater we just want everyone to have fun. The trick is to avoid feeling too nervous, especially if you’re attending alone – after all, there are probably more individuals than groups. Overall, I think so long as you’re attending because you’re serious about finding someone, either is fine.
Do you actually meet someone you like?
Yes! It’s not uncommon for people to stick around after the event. Being a host, I get a lot of attendees coming over after the event telling me they met someone they genuinely like. It’s definitely possible to meet a potential partner at these events!
What happens after the date?
After each date the guys move on to the next table number when I [the host] ring the bell. This is when you provide feedback, marking the outcome of your date by simply ticking the relevant box on your score-card: yes’, ‘no’ or ‘friend’.
We have a break halfway through each event. The hosts (myself included) always make a conscious effort to go round at the end, helping to make sure everyone is clear in regards to entering their ticks from there score-card on the website and, of course, to answer any questions!
