HomeServe commitment to health and safety rewarded with RoSPA’s “Gold Medal” safety award

Leading home assistance provider, HomeServe, has been rewarded for its ongoing dedication and commitment to occupational health and safety with a rare “Gold Medal” award from safety charity the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).

The RoSPA Gold Medal award is handed out to businesses that achieve five or more consecutive Gold ratings from the accidents and safety body. HomeServe has now secured an eighth consecutive gold and has been awarded the prestigious honour.

The award will be presented to HomeServe during a ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole hotel on Wednesday, July 4, 2018.

Bob Kerr, HomeServe’s Director of Health, Safety and the Environment, said: “We’re delighted to retain our place among the very best performing UK businesses when it comes to occupational health and safety.

“The safety and wellbeing of our People based across the UK, and of all of our Customers, is incredibly important to us, and we are committed to maintaining and improving our high standards of safety.

“This Gold Medal award from RoSPA is an incredible achievement and we’d like to thank all of our People for their ongoing commitment to improving our safety culture every single day.”

The RoSPA Awards scheme, which receives entries from organisations around the world, recognises achievement in health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.

The scheme not only looks at accident records, but also entrants’ overarching health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.

The majority of awards are non-competitive and mark achievement at merit, bronze, silver and gold levels.

Gold medals, president’s awards, orders of distinction and the Patron’s Award are presented to organisations sustaining the high standards of the gold level over consecutive years.

Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of qualifications, awards and events, said: “The RoSPA Awards are the most highly-respected in the health and safety arena, with almost 2,000 entrants every year, and allow organisations to prove excellence in the workplace, demonstrating a commitment to the wellbeing of not only employees but all those who interact with it.”
