Home and garden PR agency expands to create its first ever Operations Director position

L-R: Holly Daulby, Managing Director and Fay Clarkson, Operations and Account Director

Home and garden specialist PR agency, Honest Communications, has bolstered its leadership team with the promotion of longstanding employee, Fay Clarkson, to the position of Operations and Account Director.

This strategic move comes as the business, which was founded by managing director Holly Daulby in 2019, enters a rapid phase of growth, with plans to expand its team, portfolio and services in 2024.

Fay, who is one of Honest Communication’s first employees having joined the company in 2020 and has recently returned to the business following maternity leave, will be the driving force behind the agency’s operations and systems, leading on team productivity and efficiency. She will also be continuing to oversee her client portfolio and account director responsibilities, as well as ensuring the Honest team continues to achieve stellar results for its clients.

Commenting on her promotion, Fay said: “Honest is a truly unique agency, and one that I am so glad to be a part of. Having joined the business in its formative days, it is incredible to look back at how far we have come in such a short period of time. I’m looking forward to getting stuck into this new role, working alongside Holly to implement our growth plans while supporting the team on delivering great value for our clients.”

The announcement comes at an exciting time for the specialist home and garden agency. In the past few months alone, it has celebrated its fifth anniversary, launched its first trends report, and welcomed premium greenhouse manufacturer, Alitex, to its portfolio.

Holly Daulby added: “Fay has always been an integral part of the Honest team, and it has been a joy to see her role and experience evolve throughout her time at the agency so far. This promotion is incredibly well-deserved, and I’m confident that with Fay by my side and a fantastic team, the coming year for Honest will be an exciting one!”

As well as sharing news of Fay’s promotion, the agency has also welcomed its first junior account executive as part of a new initiative designed to help university students get a foot in the PR door.

Sophie Clarke, a third-year student at Nottingham Trent University, joins the team on a part-time basis alongside her studies. Having recently completed a year marketing placement at The Hut Group, Sophie will support across all client services, gaining hands-on experience while completing her degree in Business Studies.

Holly said: “Having completed many internships myself when starting out, I have always been a big advocate of student placements, so creating opportunities to give people their first foot in the door has long been a goal for Honest. Sophie has already proven to be a huge asset to the team and it is clear she has a bright career ahead of her!”

Honest Communications is also currently recruiting for two new positions – account executive and account manager – to further support its growth plans.

The Derby-based agency provides PR and social media support for a host of popular household names such as Wilkinson Sword Garden Tools, Henchman, Town & Country, elho, WOLF-Garten, Seedball, Hillier Garden Centres, and Cobra.
