Financial Planner returns to support The Aspire Partnership’s rapid growth

A leading Chartered Financial Planner has returned to the company who trained him to support a 45% increase in assets under management over the past 3 years.

Tom Shorland, who specialises in advising business owners and equity partners in law firms, has rejoined The Aspire Partnership’s eight-strong financial planning team, where he’ll be helping to drive new approaches to planning and structuring wealth following significant changes to tax rules in recent budgets.

He first joined the business in 2013, spending nearly a decade developing his role before leaving to join a large corporate to broaden his experience in 2022.

A passion for supporting clients on their financial journey and the opportunity to deliver a more personalised service has led to his return.

In the last three years alone, The Aspire Partnership has welcomed 325 new clients, increased its team from thirteen to twenty and currently manages over £360m of assets.

“We’re delighted to welcome Tom back to the firm, and we feel his appointment demonstrates our long-term commitment to building the best financial planning team in the South West,” commented Ian Larthe de Langladure, Founding Partner at The Aspire Partnership.

“In the last three years, we have invested significantly in our processes, technology, offices and our client service. This is complemented by attracting the best possible talent as we always believe that our people are our greatest strength.”

Tom, who joins from Quilter Cheviot, picked up the story: “I am very pleased to be back at Aspire, a firm I spent almost a decade at building my early career.

“Whilst the firm has grown and developed in my time away, the core ethics and philosophies that first attracted me remain today and I am confident that this is an ideal role for me. In addition, the team is hugely experienced in advising business owners and equity partners, which aligns with my expertise.

“I wanted to join a company that’s not just growing but deliberately investing in the future of financial planning through its people, its technology and, most importantly, the experience it delivers to clients.”

The Aspire Partnership, which has its offices in Queen Charlotte Street in Bristol City Centre, is continually innovating the way it delivers financial advice, and this has been strengthened by a recent strategic partnership with 7IM, a specialist investment management firm.

This agreement now provides clients with access to professionally managed, risk-targeted investment portfolios, backed by dedicated investment expertise and ongoing research.

In just over a year, 48% of investment clients now access this new service and have £185m invested across the three model portfolios, covering core growth, low carbon and income objectives.

Nikki King, Managing Partner at The Aspire Partnership, concluded: “Bringing Tom into the business is about more than expanding the advisory team – it is an investment in our future.

“His appointment reflects a shared commitment to building long-term relationships with clients and supporting the continued growth and success of Aspire.”
