Caboodle employees go the extra mile for Cure Leukaemia

Four of the team at Caboodle Technology are cycling from London to Paris this September as part of their mission to raise £5,600 for Cure Leukaemia. They’ve already raised just over £1,000 so far with various fundraisers, most recently raising £387.91 with their spinning session and charity raffle at Bridgemere Garden Centre.

Catherine Bennett, Anne Wade, Robbie Jones and LJ Walton set up their spin bikes at Bridgemere on Saturday and cycled all day to fundraise for their big London to Paris challenge in September.

Managing Director Catherine and HR Manager Anne have previously completed the 500km cycle ride, whereas it will be Robbie Jones’ and LJ Walton’s first time tackling the gruelling four-day event.

They’ll set off early on Thursday September 12th from the Royal Observatory in Greenwich Park, crossing over to France through the Euro Tunnel and heading down through northern France, right the way down to Paris where they’ll finish on Sunday September 15th.

It’s not the only charity challenge the four will have taken part in during 2019. Anne, Catherine, Robbie and LJ all took part in Caboodle’s 24-hour rowing challenge in April, where ten of the Caboodle team set up 2 rowing machines in Asda, Wolstanton in Stoke-on-Trent and kept them going for 24 hours to fundraise for Cure Leukaemia. After raising £1,265.19, the four decided to sign up for London to Paris. Since then they’ve been training every week and the company have even helped LJ and Robbie with new bikes through their Cycle to Work scheme.

Caboodle are an official corporate partner of Cure Leukaemia and have so far raised over £6,400 in 2019 with various fundraisers. Aside from the 24-hour rowing challenge, they’ve done various team fundraisers and a military-style bootcamp. They also completed their ’80 Days Around the World’ challenge where employees tracked their exercise and miles covered, competing in teams to see who could travel the furthest while fundraising with buffets and various other events. In 2018, they raised over £6,700 for Cure Leukaemia with similar fundraisers.

Caboodle chose Cure Leukaemia as their charity partner in 2018 as several the team had been directly affected by blood cancer. After striking up a successful partnership they have so far helped raise over £13,000.

Caboodle are aiming to contribute to Cure Leukaemia’s ‘Mission Possible’, a call to organisations and business leaders to help put the charity out of business. The ‘Put Us Out of Business’ campaign hopes to accelerate the search for a cure of Leukaemia within the next 15 years. Cure Leukaemia have funded a network of specialist nurses since 2003 and have helped provide blood cancer patients with access to pioneering and effective new treatment.

Catherine, Anne, LJ and Robbie are hoping to take part in a few more fundraisers before their four-day cycle ride in September to hit their £5,600 target. To donate or to find out more, visit their Just Giving page: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/catherine-bennett15.
