An award-winning Worcestershire village pub that closed this summer has gone on the market with the potential for redevelopment.
The Queens in Belbroughton, once recognised as one of the region’s best foodie destinations, shut its doors in June. The owner, Marston’s Brewery, is now seeking a new tenant for the venue, and a 10-year lease is being marketed by licensed property specialists, James A Baker. The Wolverhampton-based brewer will consider any sensible offers for the leasehold, as well as the freehold of the property.
The pub, housed in a 16th century building, was a regular feature in the Good Pub Guide, and was the recipient of a Bib Gourmand award for its food. It was the only pub in the Midlands to receive the accolade – the equivalent of a Michelin-star – under the tenure of top Michelin-starred chef Andy Waters.
The two-storey property offers 2,500 square feet of public space downstairs, as well as a large commercial kitchen. Upstairs there is a small private function room, and private living space.
Amy Potter, surveyor for James A Baker’s Birmingham branch overseeing the let or sale of The Queens, said it was a great opportunity for someone to bring new life back into the pub.
“Currently we have been instructed to market the pub on a leasehold basis, but the owners will also consider sensible freehold offers.”
