Art display raises more than £1,200 for children and young people with life-limiting conditions

Generous shoppers visiting the Three Spires Shopping Centre in Lichfield have raised more than £1,200 for the children and young people who rely on The Donna Louise.

An outdoor exhibition of paintings, created by families who rely on the care services offered by the hospice, went on display within the shopping centre earlier this year. The collection of stunning artwork was displayed on the railings within the shopping area and attracted lots of interest and comments from passing shoppers. Prints of each painting were also available to buy.

Regional Fundraiser, Chris Belyavin said, “I’d like to thank everyone who has made a donation or bought one of the paintings. Thanks to the generosity of local shoppers, the art exhibition raised a brilliant £1,200. That’s enough to pay for art therapy sessions for 40 families when they visit the hospice, giving them the chance to express their feelings and emotions, while creating more fantastic paintings.”

The exhibition in Lichfield was made possible thanks to the generosity of two local councillors Councillor Colin Greatorex and Councillor Natasha Pullen who funded the project, as well as Mat Nation from Personalised Nation who gifted his time to design and install the overall display.

Chris added, “I’d like to say thank you to everyone who made the art exhibition in Lichfield possible. Art therapy is a really important way for the children, young people and their families to express their feelings in a creative way. Many of them have created some beautiful pieces and it’s been great to share them with the people of Lichfield.”

The art exhibition is now on the move and will travel between the East Midlands train stations in the coming months, starting in Crewe station later this month.
