Budding paleontologists will get a chance to walk with the dinosaurs this summer, thanks to a brand new partnership between the Natural History Museum and Sandbox VR.
‘Age of Dinosaurs’, which was developed with some of the world’s leading dinosaur experts, takes players on a breathtaking expedition to the heart of a Jurassic world, giving them the opportunity to come face-to-face with some of history’s most iconic prehistoric creatures.
Accompanied by Aluna, a fearless guide from the future and her adorable robot dog Chrono, groups of up to six must work together to secure the future of earth.
Players are transported to dozens of locations throughout the 30-minute experience, where they will encounter towering Brachiosaurus, hungry Triceratops and the fearsome Tyrannosaurus Rex, whilst navigating dangerous and difficult terrain.
Dr Darren Naish, Paleontologist and Lead Scientific Consultant at the Natural History Museum said “It’s the dream of every dinosaur expert to help bring these amazing animals to life. We’ve done everything we can to portray dinosaurs, their contemporaries and their world according to current scientific understanding.
“I’m thrilled with the vibrant, exciting event we’ve created and hope you enjoy it as much as I’ve loved seeing it all come together.”
Unlike traditional VR, which relies on a single headset to provide an immersive experience, Sandbox VR utilises the same full-body motion capture technology used in Hollywood movies, allowing players to see and interact with each other as if it was real life.
Andy Scanlon, Owner of Sandbox VR Birmingham added “We’re thrilled to be bringing Age of Dinosaurs to the people of Birmingham, especially considering the city’s links to the Jurassic world.
“This year marks the third anniversary of our launch at Birmingham’s Grand Central, and we can’t wait to welcome visitors to celebrate with us soon.”
The launch of Age of Dinosaurs adds another exclusive title to Sandbox VR’s already impressive collection of interactive games, which includes ‘Stranger Things Catalyst’, ‘Squid Game Virtual’ and ‘Seekers of The Shard: Dragonfire’ amongst others.
