East Midlands demolition specialist AR Demolition has been shortlisted for a prestigious and major construction industry award.

In April, the business picked up two awards in the 2019 Construction News Specialists Awards finals, for Health, Safety & Wellbeing Excellence as well as Demolition Specialist of the Year.

Now the company, based in Carlton near Nuneaton, has been put forward into the shortlist of seven for the Outstanding Contribution to Construction category in the main Construction News Awards.

The winner will be announced at the finals dinner, held in London in July and attended by the UK’s biggest top tier contractors and construction firms.

Entrants to Outstanding Contribution to Construction category had to “provide evidence that the company is contributing to creating a better industry and striving to lead change through its work”.

AR Demolition is leading the way in the demolition industry through investment in people and training, creating a culture of diversity and attracting young talent into the industry.

It has invested significant funds into cutting-edge demolition machinery and dust-reducing equipment, as well as pioneering an innovative approach to aggregates recycling.

As a result, last November AR Demolition reported the best ever start to a financial year, with record turnover and profits in the first half of 2018.

In the six month period to July the company saw turnover rise by 54% compared to the same period in 2017, with year-on-year gross profit increasing by 18%.

Highlighted by judges as “a great example of a successful, growing specialist contractor”, AR Demolition was also praised for its “innovation, development and commitment” and its “great values”.

Richard Dolman is Managing Director of AR Demolition and has recently been elected as Vice-President of the Institute of Demolition Engineers.

He said: “It’s an honour to be shortlisted for this award. For a contractor of our size to be in the running for it really demonstrates the uniqueness of our approach.

“We want to play our part in changing the way that the demolition sector performs, to raise standards and also help alter its perception, so that we can attract new talent and create a truly sustainable business, in every meaning of the word.

“Our management team has put great effort into developing a culture which puts AR Demolition at the forefront of our industry for innovation.

“Trust, reliability and honesty, these are principles that remain at the core of the company and they help keep us focused on client satisfaction, employees, incident reporting, project completion, plant and equipment performance as well as all aspects of health and safety best practice.

“Client satisfaction remains high and our commitment to listening to and working with our clients remains key. We believe this helps to promote professional behaviours with all stakeholders and ensures smooth project delivery.

“We never rest on our laurels and we are always seeking out new technologies to enhance our service. We thrive on complex challenging specialist demolition projects and our investment in training the next generation of demolition engineers remains a key focus for us as we build and deliver that sustainable enlightened forward-thinking demolition company that is AR Demolition Ltd.

“I’d like to thank the Construction News awards panel for continuing to recognise our achievements and we look forward to developing our reputation even further.”
