A Chelmsford-based Multi-Academy Trust is celebrating after earning a place in the top three UK Trusts at the government-endorsed National Schools Awards, judged by experts from across the education sector.

The Diocese of Chelmsford Vine Schools Trust was shortlisted for the Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) of the Year award. The Trust was one of three finalists from Trusts across the UK invited to the event at the House of Lords.

CEO of Vine Schools Trust, Emma Wigmore, said: “It was an honour to be shortlisted for MAT of the Year award after a very challenging two years.

“We are a family of 23 primary schools across Essex and every single one of our schools have gone above and beyond for their pupils during the pandemic.”

The Trust was shortlisted based on the implementation of its strategic vision, effective academy provision and its focus on wellbeing for pupils, staff and the local community.

“Vine Schools Trust has a wonderful culture, and we are so pleased that this was acknowledged. We are proud to have been recognised in this prestigious awards ceremony.”

One of the Vine Schools Trust schools, Bulphan C of E Academy, also attended as finalists for the Leadership Team of the Year award.

This leadership team has been recognised by The Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) as a shining example of Christian leadership.

Mrs Wigmore continued, “Both teams had an amazing evening at the House of Lords, and we hope to have the opportunity to attend again in future.”
