You’re Hired! Accountants take on apprentice challenge

Trainees from Prime Accountants Group raising money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital

A savvy group of trainee accountants took to the boardroom to raise money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital as part of a special Apprentice challenge.

Six young professionals from Prime Accountants Group, which has offices in Birmingham, Solihull and Coventry, had three hours to raise £500 for the hospital with just 45 minutes to plan their approach, as part of a challenge based on Lord Sugar’s hit BBC show.

Hannah Thomas, Hannah Collins, James Pickering, Haroon Gulfraz, Shorif Masu and Lemar Chandegra set up a JustGiving page for friends and family to donate to and drummed up support outside the hospital with eye-catching money buckets.

On hitting their deadline, the Prime team managed to raise an impressive £1,100 for the hospital, which will go towards much-needed services and purchases, such as stimulation development toys for babies suffering from respiratory problems.

Birmingham Children’s Hospital is the UK’s leading specialist paediatric centre, caring for sick children and young people up to the age of 16.

Helen Rawnsley, Corporate Partnerships Officer at Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “The Prime team demonstrated great team-building, communication and leadership skills throughout the day and were an absolute pleasure to work with.

“We are so grateful for their hard work and dedication to raising vital money, which will help us to improve the hospital experience for our patients and families.”

Kevin Johns, Managing Director of Prime, said: “We’re proud of the team for their efforts in this challenge and we are sure the amount raised will be able to provide much-needed support to make the children’s stay in hospital a little more comfortable during an already difficult time.”

Birmingham Children’s Hospital is Prime’s nominated charity after being selected by its staff. The team have raised more than £2,000 from fundraising activities in the office this year and plan to continue their support in 2020 with more large-scale fundraising events.
