Colchester based facilities management company Cloudfm and the Essex County Cricket First Men’s team were delighted to welcome the local school to their new season launch.

Following a successful two-year relationship Cloudfm has announced its ongoing support for Essex County Cricket Club by extending its partnership with the club until the end of 2023 as well as sponsoring its new season shirts. Local school children along with Cloudfm employees and neighbouring businesses were invited to join the celebration.

The thirteen budding cricketers from St John’s COFE Primary School in Colchester were delighted to have the opportunity to meet their cricket heroes including England legend, Sir Alastair Cook! To celebrate the new shirt launch, the local pupils enjoyed working with some of the players to design their own unique cricket shirts. The winning design will now be made into a shirt for the whole class to wear.

Head Teacher and keen cricketer, Craig Twin, set up the school’s cricket club to encourage youngsters to try out the sport. The school team have been invited to play in a local tournament that will take place at Colchester Cricket Ground this summer.

Mr Twin said: “We’re delighted to have been invited to join Cloudfm and celebrate their partnership with Essex Cricket. Having the opportunity to meet the team has been a fantastic inspiration for the children and I hope their enthusiasm will encourage more children to give the sport a go. The children have thoroughly enjoyed meeting the players and taking part in the activities that Cloudfm have organised for them.”

The team, including Sir Alastair Cook and Ryan ten Doeschate, entertained guests with a Q&A session, talking about their careers so far and providing advice on how young people can look to get in to the sport. Ryan also discussed the skills required to be an elite cricketer while Alastair enlightened the crowd on his knighthood and what it was like to meet the Queen!

Jeff Dewing, Cloudfm’s CEO, said: “We are very passionate about our partnership with Essex Cricket and the new season launch party proved to be a fantastic opportunity to share in the celebrations with the players, fellow employees and the local community. We are delighted to be extending our sponsorship for the next three years and can’t wait to get down to the ground to cheer the boys on this season.”
