A popular annual ball has raised over £35,000 for two Worcestershire charities.
The Worcestershire Ambassadors have raised the total through its charity black-tie ball – with the organisation’s two chosen charities, the Worcestershire Community Trust and St Paul’s Hostel, set to benefit.
Over 350 people attended the 60s-themed event at West Midland Safari Park which saw performances from live bands and a 60-strong choir, as well as a gin raffle and auction all held with the aim of raising as much funds as possible.
Kevin Powell, chair of the Worcestershire Ambassadors said: “Our annual ball is our flagship event and I was delighted to see so many Ambassadors and businesses attending.
“To raise such an amazing total is the icing on the cake and I’d like to personally thank Ambassadors Tracey Hopkins and Judy Owen who organised a wonderful event which will live long in the memory. Our charitable focus for this year is mental health and both our chosen charities have vital roles to play in helping people who are struggling. They will be able to put the money raised to good use to help and support people here in the heart of Worcestershire.”
Tracey Hopkins added “We are lucky to have the support of local businesses such as West Midland Safari Park who each year kindly give us their Tree Tops marquee for free, along with DRPG who took care of all the technology and lighting. We would also like to thank Barclays Bank who match-funded the £2,000 raised through the gin raffle.”
