whg scoops ‘Landlord of the Year’ at West Midlands Regional Energy Efficiency Awards

whg has been praised for its investment and commitment to provide energy-efficient homes across the Midlands

The leading Midlands landlord scooped the Landlord of the Year award at the West Midlands Regional Energy Efficiency Awards 2018.

The regional award follows the decision by whg to implement a Programme Managed Office structure to its Energy and Programme Management Team. This efficient model allows 10% more work to be delivered for the same delivery cost.

Between January 2017 and January 2018, whg invested £8.6m to improve 1,291 existing homes.

Colleagues from whg picked up the award at a ceremony held at the Double Tree Hilton in Coventry on Thursday, 22nd March.

whg had further success on the night, as it was also highly commended for the Regional Small-Scale Project of the Year Award for its innovative energy efficiency project in partnership with Soltherm External Insulations. This project was the first in 2017 for whg and Surefire Management Services (SMS), providing a landmark presence for how smarter procurement for energy-efficient schemes can be delivered in the future.

Paul Dockerill, whg’s Director of Energy and Programme Management, said:

“We cannot underestimate the impact these improvement works have on tackling fuel poverty for our customers. Energy-efficient homes help customers save money on energy bills and provide a warmer, healthier home in which to live in.

“We were delighted to pick up this regional award and believe it is true testament to the hard work and dedication of our colleagues and partners.”

Ruth Hale, Head of Wales & West at Soltherm External Insulations and SMS, said:

“This is a great start to the year for the partnership of whg and SMS. I look forward to building projects with whg and paving the way for other housing providers to take advantage of SMS to really help reduce fuel poverty and make people’s homes a warmer and safer place to be.”
