Walton Homes to start next phase of development in Handsacre

Staffordshire-based developer Walton Homes has commenced the second phase of construction at a popular canal-side development in Handsacre.

Further to acquiring a 24-acre site in the village in 2018, Walton Homes announced its plans to create Acresford Park, a 200-property scheme located off Tuppenhurst Lane, over a five-year period.

The first phase, comprising of 57 homes, is now sold out, with work having completed earlier this month, while construction of phase 2a, comprising of 13 homes, commenced earlier this year and is attracting a lot of interest from buyers. Just six plots remain unsold at the site.

The business is now preparing to commence construction of phase 2b, which will comprise of 37 plots. The latest phase of development will incorporate a variety of house types, including bungalows, to meet a full range of requirements.

Amy Summerton, Director of the business, said: “The Handsacre and Armitage areas of Staffordshire have always proved a popular location because of its proximity to surrounding towns and cities and the range of amenities in the area, and this development, with its canal-side setting, is proving a hit with first-time buyers and those looking to relocate.

“The Government’s recent announcement regarding a cut on stamp duty thresholds has also led to an increase in enquiries as people seek to capitalise on the savings they can make, and with the first phase being fully sold, and with a limited number of properties now remaining, we are keen to commence the next phase of construction in order to deliver the next properties early next year,” she added.

The Government announced last week that stamp duty no longer needed to be paid on property purchases below £250,000, while first-time buyers will only pay duty on homes above £425,000.

The reductions are expected to save the average homebuyer £2,500, and first-time buyers more than £8,000.

Acresford Park is one of the largest the developer has ever built.

While the development of 200 two, three and four-bedroom homes is anticipated to take up to five years to complete, the first properties of phase 2a are earmarked to be ready for occupation by Autumn 2022 with work on phase 2b expected to begin in summer 2023.

Early Bird reservations on Phase 2b are now open. For details of these, and the remaining properties at Acresford Park, contact the on-site marketing suite on 01889 441008.
