Alto highlights the UK’s top ten fastest rising picture postcard villages and towns

Alto has highlighted the UK’s top ten fastest rising picture postcard villages and towns – where values have soared over the last decade.

Tourism hotspot Fowey in Cornwall tops the list, bucking the overall downturn to shoot up by 67% in the last ten years – average prices rising from £350,000 to £585,000.

Alto software is connected to more than 6,000 estate agents across the UK and it tracks thousands of sales going back decades.

Alto CEO Riccardo Iannucci-Dawson said: “Even in a depressed property market you will find bubbles which out perform other areas because they are gorgeous places to live and defy the general downturn.

“Fowey is one such place and all ten picture postcard locations on the list benefit from the wow factor which makes them more desirable places to live than neighbouring areas.

”Alto software allows agents to analyse this long-term sales and rental data, going back decades, to market homes most effectively and extract the maximum value out of each new listing.

“We have access to sales data right across the UK from thousands of agents  and can quickly highlight trends and local hot spots which may require a different sales strategy.”

Alto shortlisted picturesque towns and villages which have significantly out-performed the market over the last decade to deliver strong returns for buyers and landlords.

The data and methodology behind the list are available on the Alto website.

Winner Fowey  – an historic port town – is famous for its Georgian townhouses, quayside cottages and stunning waterfront where buildings are stacked in tiers up the rising hillside.

It was home for 15 years to the comedian Dawn French who lived in a Grade II listed mansion overlooking the river Fowey estuary.

The hit BBC series Beyond Paradise, starring Kris Marshall and Sally Bretton, is filmed there and it has long been viewed as one of the jewels in Cornwall’s crown.

Second placed Hathersage has soared in value because of the enduring appeal and beauty of the Peak District where it is situated and it is commutable to Sheffield and Manchester.

It is a popular movie location and the Hollywood blockbuster Pride and Prejudice, starring Keira Knightley, was filmed there.

Third place Weobley has rich medieval heritage and doubled up as Stratford-upon-Avon in the Oscar winning movie Hamnet.

Alto is the UK’s number one cloud-based CRM (customer relationship management) software for estate and letting agents, built to handle sales, lettings, property management and client accounting on a single platform.

Around 35% of UK estate agents use the system – and users save an average of 10 hours per week on paperwork
