Award-winning law firm VWV has seen a number of its lawyers and practice areas recommended as part of last week’s release of the two leading guides to UK law firms and solicitors.
Based on a series of client and peer interviews conducted independently, Chambers & Partners and Legal 500 offer those buying legal services reliable information on the leading law firms. VWV has been ranked for many years in both directories.
As a result of the research, five of VWV’s lawyers in Birmingham – Frances Anderson, Jane Byford, Kathy Halliday, Dee Kundi and Clive Read – are recommended in the legal directories.
Employment law specialist Kathy Halliday made her entrance into Legal 500’s prestigious ‘Hall of Fame’, which highlights individuals who have received constant praise by their clients for continued excellence. Dee Kundi, who leads the award-winning Debt Recovery team, has also received special recognition as a ‘Leading Individual’ in this field.
In addition, Senior Associate Tom Brett Young has been ranked as an ‘Associate to watch’ in Chambers & Partners, and an up-and-coming ‘Next Generation Lawyer’ in Legal 500, with clients describing him as “an excellent immigration lawyer, with a combination of technical expertise, client focus and practical execution”.
This year’s directories also reveal that seven of VWV’s teams – Charities, Education, Debt Recovery, Immigration, Employment, Commercial Property and Intellectual Property – are amongst the best in the West Midlands, stating:

“VWV is excellent overall and quick and effective – it just gets on with it and gets the job done, rather than constantly asking for instructions on every point.”
VWV’s education practice in particular was ranked in Tier 1, the highest distinction, by Legal 500, for the fifth year in a row.
First opened in 2013, VWV’s Birmingham office has achieved impressive growth rates of over 50% in each of the last two financial years, and with 10 new staff joining the firm in the past 12 months, continues to go from strength to strength.
Earlier this month, this earned VWV the ‘Legal Firm of the Year’ award at the City of Birmingham Business Awards 2018.
Commenting on the results, Clive Read, Birmingham Office Partner, said: “This year’s rankings recognise the outstanding legal work of our team here in Birmingham. The firm’s position in the legal directories relies heavily on client feedback, so a special thank you to all of our clients involved in the process.”
