Virgin Care Private health and wellbeing clinic opens its doors

Virgin Care Private, which announced its first health and wellbeing clinic in Birmingham City Centre in December, has opened its doors for the first time for local people to access easy and convenient support to achieve their health and wellbeing goals.

The clinic, in Edmund Street in the city centre of Birmingham, offers accessible, pay-as-you-go health and wellbeing services including same day face-to-face GP appointments, vaccinations and private medicals alongside other services.

Virgin Care Private launched on 19 December and appointments are now available to book online at https://private.virgincare.co.uk/ for the same day or the future, or by calling 0300 247 0121.

The clinic building has been designed to create a stress-free space across three floors, offering clients an environment to build and sustain a balanced lifestyle and achieve their goals.

Led by Stephanie Byrom (Director of Operations), an experienced healthcare manager in the private and NHS sector, Virgin Care Private’s services will offer:

  • Face-to-face private GP appointments (same day, walk-in and Saturday AM), including vaccinations and immunisations, prescriptions and private medicals
  • Specialist consultations, including dermatology, urology and physiotherapy services
  • Emotional wellbeing, including counselling
  • Diagnostics and tests, including sexual health, antenatal and medical ultrasounds, lung function tests and allergy testing
  • Health screenings, including Well man and Well woman checks, ovarian cancer screening and healthy heart and lung checks
  • Corporate support, including pre-employment checks, employee health assessments, convenient private GP consultations for employees and independent medical assessments

Virgin Care Private is one of the first clinics in the country to offer a same-day results HIV test from 10 days after potential exposure, providing faster peace of mind and reassurance to people who believe they may have been exposed to the virus.

Dr Rupa Parmar, Medical Director at Virgin Care Private, said: “We’re pleased to finally open our clinic doors to the people of Birmingham and offer convenient, easy-to-access appointments and services which put our clients in control.”

“Every service we offer and the way we offer it will be focused around their own health and wellbeing needs or goals, and what they want to achieve to either get well or stay well.”

Virgin Care Private is also offering corporate healthcare packages, providing Birmingham employers with access to independent medical opinions, convenient healthcare access for employees in and out of hours and other occupational health services.

Virgin Care has been running health services since 2006 and now treats more than one million people a year across England. The organisation has been supporting the NHS and local councils to improve and integrate their services for the last 11 years;

Virgin Care Private is a new, separate venture into delivering additional convenience and choice that self-pay services in city centre locations can offer.

The clinic represents a continuation of Virgin’s investment into health and wellbeing services.
