A city-wide event dedicated to raising much needed funds for the Lord Mayor of Liverpool Cllr Barbara Murray’s Chain Reaction charities’ campaign has proved a huge success.
Thanks to the efforts of nationally revered social entrepreneur Natalie Reeves Billing, the Our Drive For Your Community event hosted by partners Novotel Liverpool Paddington Village and People’s BYD raised an incredible £6,000 for the campaign.
Natalie, who was present as Deputy Lieutenant of Merseyside Lieutenancy for the duration of the day-long event spoke about the diverse array of communities who attended, all dedicated to helping the Lord Mayor make change.
She said: “It was a great day with brilliant partners. Novotel Liverpool Paddington Village were such wonderful hosts. GM David Walker and his amazing team also jumped behind the wheel themselves to contribute.
“People’s BYD including Aisha Doyle, John J, Liam Howel and the crew could have reached out to so many different communities to help and they do but they also chose us. I know the Lord Mayor is very grateful to them for helping us to raise vital funds as she was to such a wide-reaching representation from so many cultures across the city.
“The Lord Mayor of Liverpool, and the fundraising dream team including Gary Millar, Pauline Rowe, Ngunan Adamu, Alex Cousins, Anita Marsland MBE, Katy Elliott, Claire Campbell, and Kevin Roach were all present and I thank them all for the energy and passion they bring.”
The funds support the new Lord Mayor of Liverpool’s skills acquisition-based campaign geared towards helping young people attain better jobs and to escape poverty.
Natalie added: “It was a day to remember and also included members of Liverpool Poetry Space (LIPS) sharing poems for the initiative which was the icing on the cake. Here’s to many more miles of impact and collaboration ahead.”
