Staff become busy bakers to raise cash for Macmillan Cancer Support

Kind-hearted fundraisers at Dains Accountants have been busy baking a series of tasty treats to raise cash for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Employees at the company’s Lichfield office held a homemade cake sale and coffee morning to raise £143 towards the Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee morning which was officially held on Friday September 27th.

Staff created a range of cakes for the sale and also staged a special sweepstake to guess the number of berries in one of the cakes.

Macmillan Cancer Support provides physical, emotional and financial support to help people with cancer to live life as fully as they can.

It is one of the largest British charities and Macmillan’s goal is to reach out to and improve the lives of everyone living with cancer in the UK.

Aisha Shabir, Assistant Tax Consultant, organised the coffee morning and cake sale which was supported by staff across the Lichfield office.

Aisha said: “We are always keen to support Macmillan Cancer Support with our fundraising activities and this has become an annual event at our Lichfield office.

“Although the official date for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning 2019 was September 27th, it’s never too late to get involved so we were pleased to hold a coffee morning of our own.

Commercial Services Senior Becci Smith won the sweepstake for guessing the correct number of berries in the cake and donated her winnings to the cash total.

Aisha added: “I’d like to say a big thank-you to all the Lichfield team who volunteered to bake some amazing cakes in their spare time which we were able to sell on the day.

“We hope that our coffee morning donation can help to make a real difference to people who are battling against cancer up and down the country.”
