Special sponsorship deal and sell-out for Shrewsbury bonfire spectacular

A bonfire and fireworks spectacular in Shrewsbury has celebrated a new sponsorship deal and a sell-out for its first event since being hit by flooding two years ago.

The bonfire at the Greenhous West Mid Showground in Shrewsbury was sponsored by Fibre Heroes – a broadband provider working to deliver ultrafast fibre broadband to rural areas.

Around 5,000 people enjoyed the event on Saturday November 6, which had sold out the week before.

The charity bonfire and fireworks spectacular featured two displays – the first ideal for younger children, followed by a louder display later in the evening.

Last year’s event was cancelled due to Covid-19, and the year before was delayed because of flooding, so this year proved one to remember.

Dan Jones, of Fibre Heroes, said: “We are delighted to be a major sponsor of the Shrewsbury Bonfire and Fireworks Spectacular for the first time.

“Fibre Heroes, part of Full Fibre Ltd, has been providing broadband since 2017. They have been swooping into market towns, like Shrewsbury, that have been previously forgotten by other large network providers who focus entirely on bigger urban areas.

“Fibre Heroes are here to conquer slow broadband, banish buffering and rescue forgotten towns from the villainous curse of internet lag.

“With the superpower to defeat all your internet woes, our Fibre Heroes will make sure you’ve got a lightning fast, reliable connection that handles whatever life throws your way.

“You may have seen our Fibre Heroes in and around your town lately and that can only mean that ultra-fast fibre broadband is on its way to you.

“A full fibre connection between your home and our fibre network, no copper at all. HD and 4K streaming will be easy no matter how many people are online. Remote working will become more reliable as well as faster and your new up-to-date connection will be ready for any new technology coming.

“To get connected just visit the website on www.fibreheroes.co.uk, enter your postcode and select your package.”

Ian Bebbington, CEO of the Shropshire and West Midlands Agricultural Society, added: “We are extremely grateful for the support shown by businesses who have taken us up on a number of sponsorship opportunities, including Fibre Heroes who sponsored the actual bonfire itself.

“It’s one of the largest bonfires around, so we hope they enjoyed putting their name to the centrepiece of our event, which is a vital element of our activities here at the showground.

“Proceeds go to the Shropshire and West Midlands Agricultural Society’s Rural Charity which ensures the showground can continue as a vital part of the community, along with allowing the society to make donations throughout the year to various groups and organisations.

“We have been blown away by the support from businesses and the public, and are delighted to have sold out for this year’s event.”
