RockReef, the popular indoor climbing attraction on Bournemouth Pier, has unveiled a brand-new mascot designed in partnership with the local community, including students from Arts University Bournemouth (AUB). The new character, created through a Mascot Design Challenge, will welcome families and adventurers to RockReef and PierZip, the world’s first Pier to shore zip line.
The initiative engaged local children, who submitted creative designs, with AUB students helping to bring the winning concept to life. The project was supported by Andy Martin from BCP Council. RockReef has also been working closely with other seafront businesses to enhance the visitor experience and promote Bournemouth as a must-visit coastal destination for families year-round.
As part of these efforts, RockReef is partnered with the Oceanarium during February half term, offering a joint promotion to encourage families to make the most of Bournemouth’s seafront attractions. The collaboration aimed to drive footfall to both venues, giving visitors an action-packed day out while reinforcing Bournemouth’s reputation as a thriving family-friendly resort.
Adding to the celebrations, RockReef was recently awarded Gold in the Community Category at the Bournemouth Business Awards, recognising its dedication to community engagement, local partnerships, and providing accessible family entertainment.
