Raise voices in hospice festive carols

Voices will be raised in song at a special evening of carols at St Richard’s Hospice in Worcester at the final event in the charity’s Lights of Love campaign this year.

Everyone is invited to join the festive sing-song in the hospice in Wildwood Drive, Worcester on Thursday, 19th December at 7pm.

The event will feature the Rock Choir and West Mercia Police Band and will be led by hospice Chaplain Clare Griffiths. It is open to people of all faiths or none.

Carols at the Hospice is the culmination of this year’s Light of Love which has included services at Worcester Cathedral, Pershore Abbey, Droitwich Spa Methodist Church, and Malvern Priory. More than 2,600 names have been dedicated so far, raising more than £46,000 towards the care of St Richard’s

Rachel Jones, Fundraising Manager at St Richard’s, said: “We’re very grateful for the incredible support from our community. Lights of Love means so much to many people and is a chance to celebrate and remember loved ones united with others in their shared experience.”

She added, “Our Carols at the Hospice will be an uplifting evening and we look forward to welcoming people into the newly refurbished Living Well Centre at St Richard’s. There will be the opportunity to light a candle in our beautiful Sacred Space during the evening.”

St Richard’s Hospice cares for adults with a serious progressive illness, improving their quality of life from diagnosis, during treatment and to their last days. It also supports their loved ones.

Each year the hospice team supports more than 3,400 patients, family members and bereaved people in Worcestershire.

St Richard’s is an independent charity and relies on donations and gifts in Wills for the majority of its income with 20% funded by the NHS.

The hospice is also raising funds for the Build 2020 Appeal and is part way through developing a bigger hospice, enabling more patients and families to be cared for in Worcestershire. The total cost for expanding and redeveloping the existing building in Wildwood Drive, Worcester, is £5.3m.
