Permasteelisa Group, the global leader in the design, construction and installation of technically advanced building envelopes, has announced the appointment of James Hickman as its new Director of Group HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) and Wellbeing.

To be based in the UK, James joins from his previous role at Hinkley Point C where he gained significant leadership credentials heading up the £33bn project’s HSE function.

Taking up his position, he will also represent Permasteelisa Group on its Senior Leadership Team.

James has extensive experience and knowledge of HSE leadership roles, having also worked for the UK regulator (Health and Safety Executive) as a HM Inspector of Health and Safety.

He succeeds Kenny Polson in the role, who will now lead the HSE and Quality function for Permasteelista’s UK operations.

Group Chief Operating Officer, Lee Marks, said: “It is evident James draws on his training and experience from his previous roles in his approach to workplace safety and occupational health.

“James has held other business-wide HSE leadership roles and is a passionate leader who will bring to the Permasteelisa Group both his experience and ability to develop the highest HSE standards, systems and processes.

“In this role, reporting to me, James will work functionally with HSE leaders across all of our business units and regions to ensure the Group’s efforts are aligned and integrated as one.”

James started his career in Engineering and holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Engineering Geology and a post graduate diploma (PGDip) in Regulatory Occupational Health and Safety. He is also a chartered Health and Safety Leader.
