Local businesses in Norwich have raised over £2,000 for children’s charity Action for Children in a quiz held by recruiting experts, Hays.

The quiz was held at Norwich City Football Club on Thursday 20th June and saw 30 teams from local businesses attending. The winning team was property firm Targetfollow Group Ltd., with last year’s winners, veterinary service providers CVS Group plc., placing runners up. Other businesses that attended include R G Carter, Polar Manufacturing, Lotus Cars, Cornwall Insight, Price Bailey and Bernard Matthews.

A particular highlight of the night was the raffle, where participants had the chance to win prizes such as breakfast for two at The Ivy, clothing, sports and bungee jumping vouchers, a wine hamper, and a table for two at the Champions Gallery at Newmarket Racecourse. These prizes, among others, were donated by local businesses.

The funds raised through the event will be donated to Hays’ charity partner, Action for Children, and will go directly to an employability programme for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds struggling to get their foot on the work ladder.  Hays have successfully raised over £220,000 for the charity over the two years of their partnership.

Helen Busfield, Recruitment Consultant at Hays in Norwich, who organised the event, said: “The night was a great success and we’re very proud to have raised such considerable funds for our partner charity, Action for Children. We would like to thank those who attended or donated a raffle prize, contributing to our fundraising efforts and making it an enjoyable evening for everyone involved. We look forward to hosting another event next year!”

Ermelinda Ceci, Senior Corporate Development Executive at Action for Children said: “A huge thank you to all of the businesses who supported last week’s quiz to raise vital funds for Action for Children. Our employability programmes that have been funded by Hays during our two-year partnership help some of the most disadvantaged young people in the UK to secure and maintain training and employment, transforming their future life chances. We hope everyone had a fantastic evening.”
