A new boxing academy located in Loughton, Essex, has celebrated a successful first six months in business, after securing over 300 new members from the local community.
Located on the ground floor of the Landmark Building, Dennis & Dyer Boxing Academy first opened its door in April 2021 with a clear vision to become one of Loughton’s ‘go to’ fitness establishments.
Since this time, co-founders and leading boxing coaches, Marc Dennis and Liam Dyer, have employed a team of over 6 instructors to deliver over 35 weekly classes for men, women and children of all abilities.
Now affiliated by England Boxing, Dennis & Dyer Boxing Academy also delivers training for aspiring professionals, where the Academy’s first trained amateur boxers have since competed at an elite level.
Marc Dennis, Co-Founder of Dennis & Dyer Boxing Academy, confirmed: “Since opening our doors in April 2021, we have received nothing but positive feedback from members of the local community who have either joined our classes to have and improve their fitness, or because they are looking to take boxing more seriously.
Aside from seeing the positive impact the academy has had on our growing membership base, it’s been amazing to help nurture and develop some incredible young talent in boxing and I can’t wait to see what the rest of this season brings.”
Both Marc Dennis and Liam Dyer boast extensive experience in boxing coaching, where Liam starting his journey in the overweight category as a teenager and competed for the Tottenham and Enfield club. Unfortunately, his struggle with asthma meant he was forced to retire from the sport early, but since then has worked alongside Marc to train boxers of all age groups and capabilities.
Backed by local, serial entrepreneur and property investment expert, Reece Mennie, who has sponsored the former WBC World Champion, Charlie Edwards, for a number of years, and recently teamed up with professional boxer Archie Sharp. The Dennis & Dyer Boxing Academy now backs 5 amateur trained boxers, with many more to be added to the ranks by the close of the year.
Reece Mennie added: “After our original launch date was pushed back by 5 – 6 months due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, Marc, Liam and I are delighted to have received such an incredible response to the Dennis & Dyer Boxing Academy within such a short timeframe.
We set out to ensure the Academy didn’t just become ‘another gym’, but rather a place for any member of the local community to have fun, improve their fitness and even achieve their goal of becoming a professional boxer. We have already achieved this and so much more, and the team and I couldn’t be prouder.”
Located in The Landmark at Barrington Green, Loughton, the Dennis & Dyer Boxing Academy opens 6.30am – 9pm Monday – Friday, 8am – 2pm on Saturdays and 9am – 12pm on Sundays.
