The National Sea Life Centre in Birmingham is due to close temporarily after the half term period, for the first time in its 22 year history.
The well-known aquarium in Brindleyplace will be undergoing a 6 day closure in November for an extensive remodelling as part of a multi-million pound redevelopment. It is the first large scale investment in the attraction since 2014 with the opening of the Penguin Ice Adventure exhibition, home to a colony of Gentoo penguins.
Works on the centre will take place between the 5th and 11th November, where the attraction will be closed during this time.
‘We’re always looking at new ways to excite our guests and evolve the attraction,’ Amy Langham, General Manager at the National Sea Life Centre, comments.
‘The remodelling will enable us to house new creatures in the future, some of which will never have been seen before in the UK. Further information is currently being kept secret, but stay tuned for exciting updates being announced in 2019.’

‘Guests looking forward to a visit in the school half term needn’t worry though; we’ll be open as normal, with the short-term closure taking place from 5th November.’
All of the aquarium’s resident creatures will continue to be cared for and monitored by the animal care team during the works, with all activities carried out as normal including feeding and enrichment.
