National Express West Midlands offers a special Yuletide ride

National Express West Midlands is running a Christmas bus to spread some Yuletide cheer and help raise festive funds for charity.

On Monday 23 December 2019 Santa Claus and his helpers will be riding a special one-stop route from Colmore Row around Birmingham city centre – and those onboard can gift a small donation to CLIC Sargent, the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people.

National Express is decking out the bus in Christmas decorations and staff will be handing out festive treats for younger riders during the 20-30 minute journeys.

The Christmas bus will leave Colmore Row every half hour from 10:30 and the last trip starts at 14:30.

While the trips are free, those who want to join in the festive fun onboard will need to show a special Christmas ticket to ride. A limited number of tickets for each trip are available here.

Staff at National Express West Midlands’ Birmingham Central depot in Digbeth chose CLIC Sargent as the depot’s charity partner earlier this year and have already raised over £660. They hope to make it to £1,000 as a special Christmas treat for the charity.

Cara Higgs, UK Community Engagement Manager at National Express, said: “National Express West Midlands is excited to welcome local families onto our special Christmas bus this year – but they’ll have to be quick because we’ve only got a limited number of tickets available!

“We’re very proud to have CLIC Sargent as one of our garages’ charity partners and we’re hoping that a bit of festive family fun helps us raise much needed awareness and funds for this fantastic charity.”

Elaine Griffin, Fundraising Engagement Manager at CLIC Sargent, said: “National Express West Midlands have been phenomenal supporters of CLIC Sargent this year and they’re topping it off in incredible style with their special Christmas bus!

“Father Christmas and his team will be on hand in Birmingham for one day only so I’d urge families to come and join us for a fabulous festive time, and to support children and young people with cancer.”
