National Express West Midlands has been driving up donations for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity – and last week celebrated a milestone by reaching £1,000.

Birmingham Children’s Hospital’s Regional Fundraiser Tanita Mistry and Corporate Partnerships Officer Helen Rawnsley met with representatives from the bus company’s Pensnett garage to receive the wonderful £1,000 donation.

Helen Rawnsley, Corporate Partnerships Officer for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “We’re so thankful to National Express West Midlands for its ongoing support of our hospital and young patients. Being so close to Christmas, the donation has come at a perfect time, as it will help us make the festive season magical for those who are just too poorly to be at home.”

Paul Prosser, Driver and Community Ambassador for National Express West Midlands, said: “We’re delighted to have been able to raise £1,000 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity. I’d like to thank all our staff and our customers who have given so generously to help us achieve such a fantastic amount.

“With Christmas coming up we’ll be giving our local fundraising another big push to raise even more for this fantastic organisation which helps so many sick children and their families.”

National Express West Midlands’ Pensnett garage selected Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity as their chosen cause to support during 2019.

Led by bus driver Paul Prosser, who is also Pensnett’s Community Ambassador, the garage has supported the charity through various fundraising activities and events including an open day.

In summer this year over £520 was raised at the open day where around 600 visitors were able to look around a huge variety of new and heritage buses as well as being given a behind-the-scenes peek at what it takes to get buses out in service day in, day out.

Free bus wash rides, a playbus and cake sales were extremely popular, as was a bus memorabilia stall for those who wanted to take a ride down memory lane.
