The Morrisons Foundation has donated £17,654 to Primrose Hospice, a local charity that provides free care to patients and their families with life limiting conditions.

The support from the Morrisons Foundation will provide the charity with the means to provide bereavement services, helping children to cope with the recent loss of a loved one.

Heather Coughlin, Head of Family Support at Primrose Hospice, said: “We are so grateful to Morrisons Foundation for generously giving Primrose Hospice £17,654 towards the vital services we provide children who have been bereaved.

“It means we can continue to provide vital care and support for children in north east Worcestershire who have lost a loved one.

“Our Family Support services are provided free of charge to anyone who has lost a loved one, regardless of whether their loved one had contact with Primrose before they died.

“While our services are free to those who need them, we still need to fund them and the hospice as a whole must raise £1.75million annually to continue to do just that.”

Gareth Worton, Community Champion at the Morrisons store in Bromsgrove presented the donation to the charity. He said: “I’m really pleased that we were able to help Primrose Hospice.  The charity is really well known in the area, both by customers and colleagues, so it’s great that the Morrisons Foundation has been able to help them”

Gareth continued, “The support they will be able to give to children who need their care at such a difficult time is invaluable. Helping local charities is at the heart of what the Foundation is all about and I’m so happy that we can provide this grant.”

The Morrisons Foundation was set up by Morrisons supermarket in 2015 and awards grants for charity projects which help improve people’s lives.  Since launching over £26 million has been donated to hundreds of charities across England, Scotland and Wales.
