MLK Day celebrated

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Fountains care home in Shirley, Solihull celebrated the life and achievements of civil rights leader, Martin Luther King what would have been his birthday.

Our residents had an interesting day finding out about the life and works of Martin Luther King, an important man who changed history and deserves to be remembered.  Residents recalled their own memories of this time and enjoyed a talk about his life.

They watched videos of some of his famous speeches and talked about the legacy he left as well as reading some of his famous quotes and creating their own quotes to sum up their own beliefs.

The afternoon was spent watching Selma, a film about the 1965 Selma to Montgomery voting rights marches.

Our varied life enrichment programme keeps residents active, and provides a daily choice of engaging physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities.

We are welcoming new residents into our homes to ensure that we are there for those that need care and support, and have a very clear protocols that must be met including a transition period into our home to help keep everyone safe. Please do give us a call on 0121 733 8602 if you are looking for care or need any further help.
