Midlands accountants hail “game-changing” collaboration with coaching and development firm

Prime Accountants has hailed its “game-changing” partnership with CAPE Coaching & Development Ltd

A Midlands accountants has hailed a “game-changing” collaboration with a coaching and development firm which it says is having a tangible impact on business performance.

Prime Accountants Group, which has offices in Birmingham, Solihull and Coventry, engaged CAPE Coaching & Development Ltd as it wanted to invest in the ongoing progression of its managers.

The firm said the work to build managers’ confidence is enabling them to have better-quality development and performance conversations, helping them think commercially and directly impacting on the bottom line.

Prime wanted a programme tailored to its company values rather than an ‘off the shelf’ product, so CAPE worked closely with directors to develop a practical programme including in-person workshops and one-to-one coaching sessions.

Lynsey Kitching, co-founder and director at CAPE Coaching & Development Ltd, said: “Typically, where you have technical specialists in an industry, they have great skills in the ‘what’ of their role, but there can be a gap in building great relationships with others.

“Many of the managers at Prime Accountants hadn’t had any formal management development training and had been promoted into their positions after being good at their technical roles.

“Like many professions, in accounting there is a strong focus on developing the technical skills and understanding key legislation in people’s early careers. The skills and behaviours needed to manage people often develops through experience, learning over time.

“Where we come in is looking at where you can develop and grow in terms of what you do and how you do it. Prime really sees the value in this, supporting people at all levels of the organisation.”

Lynsey, who is based in Solihull, said forward-thinking companies see the link between people skills, productivity and performance.

She added: “If you try and control every level of detail as a manager, the people you work with are never going to step up and develop. You create a vicious cycle and you don’t fully realise their potential or yours.

“It’s here where Prime is differentiating itself from other professional services. It sees that it’s not just about business performance but also fulfilment and happiness at work.

“By engaging in this training, Prime understands it can improve client experience, reduce write offs and provide a tangible ROI rather than just ticking the training box.”

Kevin Johns, managing director at Prime Accountants, said: “Collaborating with CAPE has been a game-changer for our team. Their customised training approach has not only bolstered our managers’ confidence but has also armed them with the tools to lead and motivate their teams effectively.

“Our managers are now adept at navigating challenges, fostering collaboration and delivering tangible outcomes. CAPE has played a pivotal role in empowering our managers to excel and drive our business to new heights.”
