London photographer launches #asyouaremotherhood campaign to promote self-love in mums and fundraise for city-based charity, Little Village

Louisa Peacock

Muswell-Hill-based professional baby and family photographer, Louisa Peacock, has launched a social media campaign,#asyouaremotherhood, to empower and support mums and open up conversations about the pressure parents feel to be ‘perfect’.

EMPOWERING & SUPPORTING MUMS

Through the #asyouaremotherhood campaign, Louisa wants to change the way many mums think about themselves and to encourage them to cut themselves some slack when things go wrong and to resist the urge to be perfect.

Louisa said: “Perfection doesn’t exist and yet we mums still try to pursue it whilst juggling work, housework, childcare and more, and too often our own mental health and wellbeing falls to the bottom of the list. We fail to enjoy the moment, to let go and live in the now of motherhood while feeling guilty and failing to meet such high standards of idealism. Mums, please realise that you are good enough!”

The #asyouaremotherhood campaign, on Louisa’s Facebook and Instagram, will feature helpful content for mums including tips, advice, stories and interviews with guest experts to spread the word about the importance of self-love and acceptance. She hopes to help mums realise how amazing and unique they are.

CHARITY SUPPORT

As part of the campaign, Louisa will be waiving her usual fee of £95 for a maternity or baby photoshoot and will be asking clients who benefit from this to make a minimum donation of £20 to Little Village. Louisa hopes that the gesture will lead to a significant sum of money being raised for the city-based family welfare charity, to benefit London families who are most in need.

Little Village is like a foodbank, but instead of food, it offers essential items like clothing, books, toys and baby equipment to parents in need, right across London.

Louisa said, “I am saddened that in this day and age tiny babies and children under 5 are going without the most basic of items right here in London – items I completely took for granted when I was pregnant and during the early years of my children growing up. I can’t imagine what it’s like to not be able to clothe your children appropriately, or to entertain your smallest children without the most basic of toys or books. So, I want to make a difference.

She continued: “Through the complimentary photoshoots, I aim to give back to some struggling families in my community. Little Village does just that; giving the gift of the most basic but essential things to babies and children who really need them. Let’s do this together and be part of something hopeful to change the world we live in, right on our doorsteps.”

Those interested in securing a complimentary maternity or baby photoshoot with Louisa at her Muswell-Hill based photography studio should contact her via her website in the first instance.

The #asyouaremotherhood campaign can be followed and engaged with on Louisa’s Instagram and Facebook Page.
