Birmingham-based insurance broker and risk management specialist Gallagher, located on Newhall Street, is celebrating a successful 20-year partnership with commercial real estate services provider, Colliers International UK.
Gallagher’s specialist real estate team in Birmingham was first appointed in 1998, by a sole Colliers office who were acting as managing agents on a portfolio of properties for one of their investment clients. Now 20 years on, Gallagher has successfully grown the account to provide insurance solutions across Colliers’ London, Manchester, Uxbridge, Bristol and Birmingham management services teams.
As more offices took up Gallagher’s service, Gallagher was able to negotiate increasingly favourable terms for Colliers, creating them an exclusive insurance programme. As well as providing cover for a standard range of property risks, including buildings, loss of rent, terrorism and public liability, Gallagher’s tailored package also includes a bespoke policy wording, higher indemnity limits and non-standard features.
Over the 20 years of partnership, Gallagher and Colliers have had to adapt to changes and trends in the market, not least the credit crunch of 2007-2008, which saw the property market slump and property owners defaulting on loans. More recently there have been changes in the threat of terrorism, moving away from those designed to cause maximum-impact property damage to lower tech, marauding attacks designed to cause mass casualties or even the recent nerve agent poisoning in Salisbury which cause such significant disruption to local businesses. As a result of these new terrorism risks, Gallagher has introduced cover for non-damage business interruption such as Denial of Access, Threat and Loss of Attraction.
To mark the impressive anniversary, Gallagher and Colliers recently celebrated with a special event in Soho, London, where all the regional offices were able to come together.
