Life Sciences Week event: From lab to market: Managing clinical trials risk with confidence
As part of Life Sciences Week, Willis (WTW) will host a discussion on Tuesday 22 September, from 09:00 to 10:00, exploring the risks affecting clinical trials today. The panel will bring together a representative from a clinical trial sponsor, an insurer and specialists from Willis (WTW) to discuss common risks and how they can be managed.
The discussion will look at why trials run late or over budget, common insurance and liability issues, and what organisations can do to avoid problems. The session will end with a live Q&A with the panel.

Willis will also have an exhibitor presence throughout the Life Sciences Week Launch Day Conference at Millennium Point, Birmingham, on Monday 21 September, and will contribute to a panel discussion. The wider partnership will include thought-leadership content developed for the Life Sciences Week audience.
Life Sciences Week 2026 runs from 21-25 September, with panels, roundtables, site visits, showcases, networking and sector-led events across Birmingham, the West Midlands and locations nationwide.
Amy Deakin, Managing Director of Life Sciences Week, said: “Life sciences businesses have to manage risk from the earliest stages of research through to taking a product to market. Whether a founder is preparing for due diligence or a sponsor is running a clinical trial, getting good advice early can help prevent delays, unexpected costs and avoidable problems.
“Willis (WTW) understands the insurance and risk issues facing the sector. At the Launch Day Conference and its clinical-trials session, the team will share straightforward advice that attendees can use in their own organisations.”
Sara Fardon, Regional Director, WTW Midlands, said: “Clinical trials are complex, and problems can quickly lead to delays, additional costs or legal issues. Organisations need a clear understanding of where problems are most likely to arise and what they can do to reduce the risk.
“We’re looking forward to meeting people from across the sector at Life Sciences Week, sharing our experience and starting conversations that continue beyond the event.”
