Award-winning Warwickshire burger brand Libertine Burger has added another gong to its accolades, scooping silver at the 2024 West Midlands Tourism Awards.
Libertine Burger, which has restaurants in Leamington Spa, Rugby and Stratford-upon-Avon, took silver in the Taste of the West Midlands category in the 2024 awards, which celebrate the region’s visitor attractions and venues.
The award means the popular burger brand now qualifies for the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence, set to be held in June, where it will be in with a chance of recognition as national champions alongside its fellow winners.
The latest gong comes after Libertine was named one of 30 finalists set to take part in a ‘champion of champions’ competition organised by the National Burger Awards, set to take place later this year. Libertine reached the finals of the National Burger Awards this year and has previously won at the prestigious awards.
Founder Charles Harris said: “One of our aims was always to serve up great food to our customers right here in the Midlands, so to have picked up silver in the Taste of the West Midlands category is a real accolade. While we aim to serve up brilliant burgers to the customers in our shops and those who buy our delivery kits to enjoy them across the UK, it’s nice to be acknowledged in awards as being up there with the best, whether that’s in the burger world or the food scene right here in our home region. A huge congratulations to everyone else involved, and we can’t wait to see what the rest of 2024 brings.”
The West Midlands Tourism Awards are supported by the West Midlands Growth Company, the region’s official destination marketing agency.
Andrew Lovett, chair of the West Midlands Tourism and Hospitality Advisory Board, said: “This year’s West Midlands Tourism Awards gave us the opportunity to come together to applaud the talent, business acumen and hard work of our tourism sector.
“With an evening of celebration and entertainment, we paid tribute to the visitor attractions, events, accommodation, and hospitality venues, which have helped the region to secure record visitors, create jobs and grow the tourism economy.”
Libertine Burger launched in 2017 and has gone on to become a staple on the street food scene. As well as its restaurants and a food truck that tours the UK’s biggest festivals, the business – whose headquarters is in Leamington Spa – serves up over a thousand takeaway burgers each week from its sites in Warwickshire as well as sending its burger kits across the country so people can enjoy them in their own homes.
Libertine’s perfect patties have also seen the brand make it to the finals of both the British Street Food Awards and the Street Food Championships in 2021, as well as the Just Eat awards. This year it is also a finalist in the West Midlands Tourism Awards.
