Garage door specialists Garolla recently launched a competition to help small business owners to accelerate their existing ventures, with a prize consisting of a garage fit out worth up to £5,000*, plus a brand new Garolla garage door.
After receiving entries from around the country, the winner was announced as Emma Jones at Emma Jones Fitness. Based in Husbands Bosworth in South Leicestershire, Emma entered the competition looking to transform her garage into a more usable space for her personal training business.
Emma shared: “I’ve been doing personal training for about two years full-time, and before that I used to run classes and online nutrition. I tend to see about three clients a day on a busy day, and I’ve got to fit it all between the school runs – most of my client are busy mums as well. Slowly but surely, I’ve been adding on new clients, and now my kids are getting older I can really put a bit more time, effort, and energy into it. I’m ready to scale up now, so when I saw the competition, I thought it could be the icing on the cake to really accelerate my business goals, and I’m delighted to have won!”

The transformation included:

- A new side door – Allowing clients to enter without opening the main garage door, improving privacy and heat retention.
- Insulated walls and a loft hatch – Keeping the space warm and energy-efficient, even in winter.
- Smart storage solutions – Creating extra room for fitness equipment while keeping the space clutter-free.
- A durable new floor, modern cladding & mood lighting – Enhancing both the look and feel of the studio, making it more inspirational for clients.
Emma added: “As well as extra space, big points to consider for the refurbishment included storage capacity, insulation, access, and security. The space got very cold in the winter, so we also have had insulation added to some of the walls before the cladding. A new loft and loft hatch also provides us with extra storage, and we have also installed new flooring. Also, a new side door has changed everything for us – it means easier access for clients, extra daylight, and keeps the heat in as well, which is just fantastic.
Emma noted: “I love helping people to find fitness to feel good about themselves and be able to do it in a way that suits them and around their family life and their setup. Since the makeover I’ve gone from having a very nice garage gym to now having a proper PT studio, and the work has created a space that my clients can thrive in, and it feels special when you’re in there – clients want to work hard in it, they feel good in it, and it’s just elevated my business.
“I’m very proud of how I run my business and how I train my clients, and the service I give them, but now my PT Studio reflects that as well. So, in terms of the Emma Jones Fitness brand, it’s just been elevated to the next level. As well as helping to push the business forward, the refurbishment may also add value to our home, which is another huge benefit.
