Leicester M&E company welcomes new trainee recruit to the team

L-R: Charlie Greves. Trainee Mechanical Engineer and Matt Wrate, Director at CPW Leicester

Couch Perry Wilkes (CPW) shows its continued support for the next generation of engineers as it welcomes its newest trainee recruit to the Leicester office.

Charlie Greves has joined the firm as a trainee mechanical engineer after finishing his A-levels earlier this year. He sought out to find a role where he could gain first-hand experience in his chosen sector and is currently working towards his Level 5 HND Build and Services qualification at CPW before heading to university.

CPW has a strong track record of supporting trainees and apprentices in further and higher education across all of their ten offices. Over 40% of their Leicester team have come through the apprenticeship training programme. Trainees are given the opportunity to complete industry-recognised qualifications and work on live projects while being managed in a supportive environment.

Charlie said: “Since I’ve started working at Couch Perry Wilkes, I’ve had the pleasure of being involved in developing projects from the ground up. I love that I never know what kind of day I’m walking into; I could be working on a new build or a commercial property – it really varies.

“CPW has a great balance of working independently yet still feeling very supported in your role. The culture here is very cooperative and I couldn’t think of a better place to complete my qualification.”

Trainees have the chance to specialise in a range of areas, including mechanical and electrical engineering as well as lighting.

Matt Wrate, Director at Couch Perry Wilkes, said: “We pride ourselves in supporting young people looking to gain valuable expertise and insight into our industry and are excited to welcome Charlie to the team.

“As a firm, we’ve always been committed to providing practical experiences, which is why we ensure our new trainees get stuck in from the very beginning. CPW really focus on the development of those looking to pursue a career in the STEM profession and we take pride in watching them grow and flourish within their roles.”
